You’re paying for every click from Google or Facebook ads — and if your landing page converts at 1% instead of 5%, you’re paying five times more per lead than you should. Here are the six problems I fix most often.
1. Too Many Choices
A landing page is not your website. It has one goal — one offer, one form, one button. Every extra link (navigation menus, footers, social icons) leaks visitors. Strip everything that doesn’t drive the single action.
2. The Headline Talks About You, Not Them
“Welcome to XYZ Solutions” converts nobody. Your headline must answer the visitor’s question: what do I get? Compare: “Get a Quote in 60 Seconds — Fixed-Price Plumbing” vs “Welcome to Our Company”.
3. The Form Asks Too Much
Every field you add cuts conversions roughly 10%. Name, phone/email, one question — that’s it. You can qualify leads on the phone.
4. No Proof
Reviews, client logos, before/after photos, “500+ projects delivered” — proof beats promises. Put at least one trust element above the fold.
5. It’s Slow
Ad traffic is impatient. If your page takes 4 seconds to load, a third of the people you paid for never see it. Compress images, skip the video background, measure with PageSpeed Insights.
6. The Message Doesn’t Match the Ad
If the ad says “50% off spring cleaning” the page must say exactly that — same words, same offer. Any mismatch feels like a bait-and-switch and kills trust instantly.
